What's the real risk to plan for in the Maasai Mara?
Dangerous game and remoteness, not the parks. Lions, elephants and buffalo are at close range - stay in the vehicle and follow your guide; at the crossings keep to designated vantage points (3,000+ crocodiles). When is the best time to visit - migration or big cats?

Reserve or a conservancy - what's the difference?
The National Reserve has the classic crossings but more vehicles; the surrounding conservancies (community/private land) offer fewer vehicles, walking safaris, off-road and night drives - the more exclusive, often ultra, choice. Many itineraries combine both. · masaimarareserve.com
